Creating and animating rainbow

Start
by opening an image where you can see a good sky area.

|
| Create
a rectangular selection using rectangular marquee tool. Create
a new layer and fill the selection with the default spectrum
gradient in linear mode. |

|
| Press
Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. |
|
|
| Adjust
nodes to get the shape as shown. |
|
|
| Remove
the overlapping area using eraser tool. |
|
|
| Change
the layer mode to overlay and opacity to 80%. |
|
|
|
|
| Click
the add layer mask button from the bottom of the layer
palette. |
|
|
| Create
a rectangular selection of the file size using rectangular
marquee tool. |
|
|
| Press
Ctrl+Alt+D to feather the selection. |
|
|
| Fill
the e selection with black color. Unlink the mask and layer
content thumbnail form layer palette. Select the mask
thumbnail. Press Ctrl+T and rotate a bit. |
|
|
| Open
animation window. For the first frame make sure the rainbow is
hidden completely behind the mask. |
|
|
| Duplicate
frame. Select mask thumbnail. Move it to make the rainbow
completely visible. |
|
|
| Press
tween button in the animation window. Apply settings as shown. |

|
|
|
| Press
Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S to save an optimized animated GIF. |
