Creating
navigational header for a detective agency site

Start
by creating a new file of header size. Fill the background
with a solid color.

|
|
Create a
horizontal line using line shape tool.
|
|
|
| Duplicate
the layer several times and place the layers as shown in the
image below. |

|
| Change
the layer mode to soft light. |
|
|
|
|
| Create
a rectangle using rectangular shape tool. |
|
|
| Enable
subtract form shape area form the top bar. |
|
|
| Create
a rounded rectangle using rounded rectangle shape tool. |
|
|
| Double
click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style
with the settings shown. |
|
|
|
|
| Create
a circle using elliptical shape tool. |
|
|
| Double
click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style
with the settings shown. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
| Duplicate
the layer three times. Fill the circles with the different
shades of same color and place as shown. |
|
|
| Select
all the circle layers. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and
select flip horizontal. Place the circles on the other side. |
|
|
| Create
an ellipse using elliptical shape tool. |
|
|
| Create
two small circles connecting the ellipse and other circles.
Apply same layer style. |
|
|
| Create
another small circles using elliptical shape tool. |
|
|
| Double
click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style
with the settings shown. |
|
|
|
|
| Duplicate
layer and scale down to create concentric circle. Duplicate
and place on the other side. |
|
|
| Create
a rectangle using rectangular shape tool. Place it at the
bottom of the header. |
|
|
| Create
a pattern of see through lines as we did right above the
background layer. |
|
|
| Type
button links over the circles. |
|
|
| Insert
an image of an eye. Rotate it to place it vertically. |
|
|
| Move
this layer right above the central ellipse layer in layer
order in layer palette. Press Ctrl+Alt+G to create a clipping
mask. |
|
|
| Type
agency name over the bottom rectangular path. |
